<title>1934 MG ND Magnette Documented supercharged roadster</title>
<link>http://www.f40.com/inventorymanager.php?action=view&amp;Id=261327</link>
<description>This is a very rare factory alloy-bodied, Supercharged 1934 MG ND Magnette Two-Seater Roadster with documented history. One of just 24 fitted with an alloy body.THE ND was the most successful MG racing models of its era, most notably winning the 1934 tourist trophy. This ND Magnette was immaculately finished in black over polished aluminum. This vehicle was featured in the September 2009 edition of MG Enthusiast, as well as being pictured and recognized in numerous books, notably Joseph Wherry's MG: Sports Car Supreme. Much of the vehicles ownership history is documented beginning with its original keeper, Bernard Clifton of Wimbledon, who acquired the car in September 1934 via MG agents Jarvis &amp; Sons. The next year Clifton sold the ND to Thorold G. Jones of Surrey. Copies of letters from the MG works in Abingdon with both these owners are included, as is a copy of the original delivery slip and warranty card. The trail picks up again in the 1960's, when it was reportedly in the hands of J.C. Waddams of Solihull. Next, the car was sold at the estate auction of George C. Waddams in 1975, (misidentified in the catalog as a KN), whose collection included several other automobiles and motorcycles, including an early Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, a 4 1/2 Litre Bentley and two Sunbeam motorcycles. The file includes the Bill of Sale from auctioneers Grimley &amp; Son. Acquired by vintage racer Miles Fenton of Vancouver, BC, who became an enthusiastic competitor and active participant in the historic racing scene, the ND was notably featured as the cover car for the 7th Annual Monterey Historics event program after an admirable showing in the 1979 event. The ND, no 6, finished 6th overall against big displacement machinery such as 4 1/2 Litre Bentleys, a Bugatti Type 57 and a Maserati 8CL. In 1987, the car was sold to prewar racing enthusiast Peter Fino of Illinois, who kept meticulous records, including parts invoices, race prep specs, and full description of competition features such as NE-spec camshaft and valvetrain, lightweight pistons, a ported, polished and flowed cylinder head, a lightend flywheel and more. Records are included indicating that Fino achieved an impressive result at the 1997 Elkart Lake Vintage Festival at Road America, where the ND finished First in class and Second overall. The next and most recent owner of the ND was Dick McClure who acquired the car in 2003 and ran it in the 2006 California Mille. McClure did some further research into the car's history, adding copies of the factory records obtained from the MG Car Club. This is an amazing looking prewar event car with race history and competition prepared but retaining remarkable originality. The Brooklands windscreens, cycle fenders and K3 racing bucket seats are augmented by its Marshall supercharger and racing radiator cap, as well as the delightful addition of period-correct Rudge wire wheels. This Magnette represents the limited-production, race-ready cars that were available directly from MG during the 1930's. As described by MG Enthusiast, the ND Magnette spelled the end to niche car manufacturing at MG and to the construction of MGs for sale to the public as dedicated competition cars. Abingdon's next sports car, the TA of 1936, would be aimed at a mass market and there would be no fire-breathing special factory editions for the favored few. The N-Type was the last of its kind, for better or for worse, and the ND was the last of the last. MG ND #NA 0484 is ready to be vintage raced, rallied ,or Mille Miglia entrant.</description>
